The intention with these intricate brick work sculptural paintings is to create environments wherein contrasting “languages”, layered and intertwined converge. Intended as analogies of both the differences in the wider world and those within the human psyche I deliberately call on polarities to sit side by side; past and present, old and new, East and West, man and nature, order and chaos, beauty and decay so as to bring each into starker contrast whilst simultaneously conveying the possibility of a harmonious co-existence. For this reason, in spite of the evident decay and abandonment hope, desires, dreams and aspirations are hinted at in the light shafts and tunnels that feature in these works.
