'Downtown' scenes of dilapidated, truly authentic, buildings.
If someone were to go through all of my photos taken over the last 20 odd years they’d come across many “downtown” scenes like this of dilapidated, truly authentic, buildings. For me, they have an incredible, intangible energy about them. I take endless photos of scenes like this never knowing when something in the photo might feature in my work.
I’ll often revert to photographs several years after taking them. It’s almost as if I need to digest and live with them first. This was somewhere along the coast near Maitencillo, a small coastal town north of Santiago, Chile.
